Artist statementLeander Djønne (1981) was born in Odda, Norway. He was educated at the Art Academy in Oslo, Bergen, Staedelschüle, Frankfurt am Main and Malmö where he graduated in 2007 (MFA).
Djønne has had solo exhibitions at UKS, Oslo and Gallery Rekord in Oslo. He has participated in several group shows a.o. at Kunstnerforbundet, Astrup Fearnley Museum of Modern Art, Projekt 0047, Bonnier Konsthall, Documenta 12 Magazines, Generali Foundation Vienna, Gallery F15 og Hannover Kunstverein.
During the last couple of years Leander Djønne has been engaged in an art practice that moves between multiple mediums–film, video, text, performance, installation, photography and teaching. This in an ongoing artistic investigation into the relations of politics, history, perception and the process of individual and collective production of knowledge.
To this aim, he employs conceptual and methodological approaches borrowed from artistic and academic practices such as film, poetry, theater, linguistics, and journalism. Leander Djønne is also involved with the artist group The Parallel Action together with Anders Dahl Monsen, and the artist run intiative Dortmund Bodega, Oslo.
